Hi I am new here. My name is Erik from Singapore. My brand new Tak is a EG15SC with Solid Cedar top & solid sepele back. And I am really proud of it and enjoyed singing with it. Was thinking of a Taylor Big Babe for very long at S$680, but, eventually fall in love at first sight with EG15SC at a local shop the first time at only S$700 |

Hi There
Looks like the site is getting a lot more active, great to see.
I've been playing on and off for over 25 years now and currently have these 3 Taks...
84 G-306 Martin 00-18 lawsuit copy
81 EF-375S Martin D-35 lawsuit copy
81 C132S Classical w/Fishman P/U
Anyway, just wanted to say that Takamine's are world class guitars. That's it, that's all

| Well why not raise this back up to see where it goes. I just registered here and will tell you this: I'm 56 years young, married to my 3rd (and best), have 2 children (grown), 2 stepchildren (again grown) and 4 grandchildren (with 1 on the way). I've been playing pretty regular since the 60's and pretty much stay acoustic. The last few years I have give myself to the Lord and have been playing praise/gospel at local churches and open mics. Anyone else? |

| Like the rest of you posting on this topic, you guessed it, I'm new here too! I'm 50 something, live in a small town north of Denver, married with five childrent, all but one have left the nest. I'm retired and have been trying to enjoy life. Been playing guitar for personal enjoyment for about 37 years, but who's counting? I own the following guitars: Takamine EAN40C12, Takamine AN16, Takamine EG335SC, Gibson SJ200, Martin HD28, Martin Backpacker, Yamaha FG312, and a Fender Stratocaster. I usually go acoustic, but have a couple of acoustic amps for when the urge hits me. |

My name is Rob, I'm 44 years old, married with a 15 month old son - Joshua. I have been playing for about 20 years. I'm one of those people who used to keep changing guitars, but I'm slowing down now. I have a Strat Ultra, Ric 360-12, Ibanez AS-80, Guild DV52, Yairi DY80-12, and my new Takamine EG461C. I bought it as a "beater", but it sure is nice (hard to believe it has a plywood top!). I've mostly played on my own, but a couple of years ago I answered a persistant call to play at my church. I've been using my electrics (we do a contemporary service) with, and without a Boss Acoustic simulator. But now I can't wait to try out my new Tak (I wish we'd do more Caedmon's Call)!

Hi- as you may have seen in another thread, I'm new here too. I'm 52, married with two kids (grown), and I am a pastor and the leader of my worship team. I've been playing off and on for more years then I care to remember or admit. Have never played professionally, mostly just for my own enjoyment, or to praise the Lord (which for me is the ultimate source of enjoyment). I have owned some twenty guitars over the past several years- mostly bought and sold on ebay. The current herd- Taylor 455ce, Martin DM, Taylor 110e (which I'll soon be selling) and my new Takamine EAN16C, which I am starting to really enjoy.
Looking forward to hearing from others, and hopefully learning more about Taks.
And Rob, Cademon's Call rocks! ><> |

I have played guitar off and on over the years and have recently acquired some nice ones.
These include Tak TAN15C which I like for amplified music. Also have a Martin D28 and a Norman 12 string.
Hope this forum will become more active so I can get some good advice from the experts! |

Hi Everyone,
I've posted a few times and replied where I can help...
It would be nice to see more activity here. I am kind of going against my new policy of not posting in forums; I have found a lot of them (like AG's forum, Harmony Central, etc.) to be full of un-informed bias and amatuer opinion. On occassion, there are some good posts and there are a couple of people that really know their stuff and are professional. Lastly, forget about talking about Takamine in these forums. For some reason, they are (mistakenly, IMO) really frowned upon. Don't know why...because they aren't made in North America? Who knows....
That's why it's nice to have this forum. I look forward to providing any help / assistance / advice that I can. It has been years since I was in a band, however, I consider myself a "serious" acoustic hobbyist (I have been playing for 23 years), and I am always learning everything I can about the acoustic world! It's a great world to be in!!
Beachbum, I'm glad you are enjoying your EAN16C. I love mine!
I don't know if I know that much Cademon's Call, but I am becoming a big Chris Tomlin fan. I also like U2 A LOT, and have added several of their songs to my rotation (as well as CT's).
Rob44, I am "THIS" close to trying out at our church. We have a brand new building with an awesome PA / sound setup. That's the only way I'll ever get to plug in my EAN16C or EAN10C into that kind of board! But seriously, it would be very enjoyable. I just need to find out if these guys are actually reading staff music. I see them reading something. I know my chords, etc very well and play mainly by ear, but if I need to read "real" notation, I may be out of luck!!
Nice to share with everyone here. I look forward to building the acceptance and credibility of the wonderfully-built guitars called Takamine!! |

It's nice to see that some others have signed up and are beginning to post here. I agree that on some of the other forums Takamine does seem to take a beating. I'm not sure why either. I will add that the Takamine I have is not my only guitar however. I also own two Garrisons and an Olympia. The Olympia is a great beater guitar and I really really like the Garrisons. I know they're not for everyone (but what is), but I really like the sound and playability of them. I have owned the Takamine the longest however and it is the most expensive of the four guitars I own. I got a great buy on it and really like it. The tiger maple back/sides with the spruce top really offer up a good sound and I just happen to love sunburst guitars. |

Kazman (and anyone else!),
It does seem that alot of forums have gotten quite mean. A lot of insecure people taking the wrong path feeling better about themselves. It seems we're off to a good start here though!
Don't be afraid to pursue playing at your church. It sounds like you have all of the skills you need. When I first started (and even since then ), I ran into some snobbery because I don't sight read music - but then I played! The only thing you really need to understand is how to follow the flow of the song - repeat bars, d.s. al Coda, and CODA. There you go, three things! I listen to a recording of the song to get the rhythm (or listen for a few bars at practice), and improvise solos on the rock songs. Most of that stuff really isn't written in the music anyway - you already know how to feel it. If the song is several pages long I make a "cheat sheet" like the chord charts you find on line so I don't have to turn pages. Maybe the people at your church won't even care that you don't read!
As for the acceptance of Takamines - just play and be happy! I have a lower line EG561c that's made in Korea but it's a great guitar. I also have a Yairi 12 string that is made in Japan, and a Guild that was made in Rhode Island. My Tak is a small, thin body, and it sounds that way. The other two are dreadnaughts and they sound better (but the Guild doesn't soound any better than the Yairi). They all have their place. I think most of you guys have the solid wood Taks, and I would put them up there with alot of the over-priced U.S. guitars.
Peace,
Rob |

| Hi. My name is Chip. 40 years old. Two kids, 9 and 1 year old. Been playing for my own enjoyment since high school. Have a Tak. F360s that plays, sounds beautifull. This is by far the best guitar I'v owned. Started out with no-name brand acoustic and a strat. copy. Took a long break from playing until my wife surprized me with the Takamine. My wife, knowing nothing about guitars, went down to the guitar shop and had the salesguy play EVERY acoustic guitar they had and bought the one that sounded best to her. She came home and surprized me with it, and a custom Takamine case. Think I'll keep her. I'v really picked-up my playing since having this guitar. I don't read music, but I'm finding alot of tab. music for songs and instruction on the internet. |
