I want to lower the action on my EG340SC. I thought it would be fairly simple, but when I took it apart, I realized there is a pickup under the saddle. Also, the saddle itself is not flat on the bottom, and has "squared teeth". Is there a safe way to do this or am I headed for disaster if I attempt to do it on my own?

Hey There!! I have an EG523SC and it had small shims under the saddle, and by removing / adding shims is the way of adjusting the action. They were clear, so check to see if you have them also....and don't lose them too!!! And it may better to go to a Luthier and spend the $30 or $50 buck or whatever it costs to have it done right. Good luck!!

Hey I actually own this same guitar and noticed the same things that you described. The pickup system does seem pretty tricky under the saddle. I don't have the answer to your question but I do have some feedback. I took the guitar to the store to get the guitar set up and action lowered... However, about three people there suggested that the guitar already had quite low action and that I should consider leaving the guitar the way it is. They also suggested that if i really wanted to get work done, I should at least leave it like this a few more months until after the weather changes (since this could drastically alter any work that they would do on my guitar). Back to your question, I THINK i read somewhere once that shims are under the pickup system.... but please dont take my word for this and i wouldn't recommend taking it apart yourself. Good luck!
