|

I've got an early 90's EF341SC. Great guitar - my workhorse, in fact.
I've often thought about upgrading the preamp (and I suppose senor capacitors, or whatever they are!) to a newer Cooltube model.
Anyone have thoughts on this - does it make sense to do? Will there be tone, usability and feedback reduction benefits? (I know I'd get an onboard tuner out of the deal, but that's secondary to me)
If so, any idea as to the best place to order one?
thanks.

The good news is by looking at your model description, from a module prospective an upgrade is possible. (and pretty simple)
The sad news may be from what I understand is TAK is sort of coveting their upgades to the cooltube preamps.
I can't validate this for certain, but when I was "in search" for mine, I asked a guy who was selling an older preamp how he got his cool tube module and he replied that he obtained his from a damaged guitar.
That known, I went with a TAN16C
The EF341SC currently shows the CT4B preamp in the website which is a pretty decent preamp. (Your may differ however)
I played an EAN40C with the CT4B in it and sounded (to me) very nice.
I hope this helps in your search.
Stay tuned... |
