Hiya everybody, I'm an old (62!) newby, & I have a niaive question for Takamine owners. Why is the G Series regarded with derision in certain quarters? I've been playing guitar for 40 years as a mediocre semi-pro, & have owned a Takamine EG40C for about 7 years, & I've been well satisfied with it, but have heard snide comments from other Takamine owners, such as "But certainly not a G Series!"... What are they getting at? Are they more discerning than me? Do they know something I don't? Please let me in on the secret! Best wishes, Peterpiper, England....PS This was origanally posted in Oct 2006; It is now March 2007, and no replies yet! Does no-one out there own an EG40C? Am I the only one? I'd really hate to be in a club where I'm the only member.... Will somebody join me? |

| I can see what you mean. When you look at all the threads on this forum barely any have recieved replies. My suggestion is to post your question on another forum. www.ultimate-guitar.com has good forums with people who give really quick responses. |

Hey hey hey....don't run away!!! I think there's not much action here too, but don't exit yet!! I have a EG523SC Jumbo, another G Series guitar, wonderful guitar, bought it less than a year old, previous owner played on stage with it, great guitar......remember it's shallow opinions that deliver this message to you. You don't need $1500+ guitar for it to be quality......I have an Alvarez RD20SC.....and I heard people say "it's a Regent Series guitar" and the condescending tone following it......acoustically it's one of the best guitars I have ever heard...I lowered the action myself on it, it has on board electronics / tuner, I'll put against any $1000+ guitar any day. I heard a good line that will make some sense on this..."Material people don't make music, musical people make music".....and they were talking about people can make music out of anything they have, and it's no better or worse than someone elses. Another forum thats a great, supportive group is Guitarists.net
But don't run away...the more people post, the more yakky people like me will answer!!!! Keep on strummin' our G series gear!!!!! |

Maritimer, you're a gentleman! Thanks for the boost to my confidence. I have been really happy with my G Series for almost 8 years now, but you know when you hear an occasional negative comment, it chips away at your self esteem. I know I ought to have trusted my own judgement, and now I do. I sound like a real wimp for allowing others to cloud mine, but at my age, youthful opinions are often regarded as more knowledgable... you know, "Young Guns" etc.! Many thanks, and I'll keep on strummin'!... |

Thanks Peter-P!!!! I'm from the "over 40" crowd....the young guns do have some knowledge...but they're impressionable, material (some are, some aren't), and are usually jockeying for stature with their peers, so you have to sift out ramblings and read into the base info. Keep that G-Series gear hummin'............. |
