I'm glad to read that alot of you just love your Tak's
I love all of my guitars
My favorite is a Takamine FD360SC....adore that guitar..so sweet..and the AD-1 preamp that is built in is just wonderful
I also have a Takamine EG523SC-12 with the NT-4 system...this guitar definately sounds better plugged in...on thing i love about taks is their preamps and pickups..always top of the line
I saw that someone on here mentioned Seagull's....got one of those too..lol...absolutely my major practice instrument...easy to play..wonderful action...decent tone for a cedar top...sounds good plugged in..has an LR Baggs pickup..it is the S6CW model
The guitar I've had the longest and has had the least playing time since I got interested in fingerstyle playing is a Gibson "The Paul"..basically a Les Paul Custom without the bells and whistles trim wise..nice guitar still in good shape after 25 yrs..
Then comes a sad story...An Alvarez Yari CY117 signature series signed by Kazuo Yari...classical nylon..I've had this guitar for 20 years..got a lot of play..the top was getting pitted so i decided to see if I could become a weekend luthier....bad move....after everything i did too it it still sounded pretty good...but one day I was playing my Tak and I heard this BOING and the bridge had popped off of the Alvarez..so it is in hibernation waiting to see if I want to repair it or get a new classical |

Great to hear about your Taks and sorry to hear about the Yari.
I have one Tak but about 7 Ovations. I do like the one I have even though it is a bit flawed.
I am thinking about picking about an Older Tak (the Martin style headstock) and one of the newer one.
I am curious as the AD-1 preamp. Does it work well for you? I also am interested in the new tube pre-amp, so will check that out soon.
It is good to chat with you and I hope more and mre peole begin to use the board.

| I've got a '98 model EF317S. Solid spruce top, gorgeous Koa back & sides, New Yorker-size body, big chunky neck, Graph-Ex electronics. I love this guitar. I've had several other Taks in the past, EN15C, EF261SBL, EF360SC, EF349. All great guitars, and I'm always looking for the next Tak to grab. |

I own an EG544SC-4C. Made in Korea. Electric-acoustic, built-in tuner (very nice feature), single cutaway, abalone inlays. The body and neck are of koa wood with fingerboard and bridge of Honduras rosewood and a top of cedar. I'm not sure how it's laminated. I would think the sides at least would be 3-ply. Maybe the back, not sure. Top is solid, of course.
With the hardshell case, I got it for $600. Nice, little deal. That price would tell you it's plywood though. But all my guitars are plywood and there ain't a damned thing wrong with any of them.
It has the neck trim on it which looks snazzy. The neck is thinner like an electric. Being used to a big Seagull dreadnought-type acoustic with a wider neck, this Tak is a challenge. It's not really made for my fingers (long and spidery) so I have to use subtle finger and hand positions while playing to make sure every note rings out. I'm getting the hang of it now and am a better guitar-player for it.
I like it because it is a true Pacific-Rim guitar being a Japanese company with Korean manufacture using koa wood which comes from Hawaii. Gives off a thin, bright sound with a lot of nuance. The fast neck and cutaway body allow to really cut loose and go crazy. The electronix are top-notch and sound excellent through a PA. |

| I have a '79 EF340 Takamine (electric acoustic). Also known as a "Martin lawsuit guitar". I think it's a exact copy of a D-18 Martin. It's even louder than my '73 D-28. I had the same type of bone saddle installed on both of them. |

| Just purchased my Tak about three weeks ago, a G340. She sounds great, just not when i'm playing her. She's a looker but you all probably know the specifications already so I won't bore you with the details. Suffice it to say she's beautiful. |

Just 2 days ago I bought a brand new (never been sold) 2005 Takamine Limited Edition.
Been GASing for this guit for 3 years, found one in new condition at a small town music store in WA.
My first TAK................plan on doing a bit of open-mic stuff with it.
